Google Recipes, tech integration, Grandparents Gone Wired

Have you tried Google Recipes? In February 2011, Google Recipes view launched in the U.S. and Japan.

This holiday season would be a great time to digitize those family recipes, bookmark your favorites and annotate those food allergies. Remember...just because it is your favorite dish does not mean everyone else will like the dish you bring to the holiday get together. 

One of my favorites is Spicy Chicken Tenders. Of course a Google Recipe search brings up 135,000 results but I have the option to select filters by ingredients, cook time, and calories.

When I select No blue cheese, the options drop from 135,000 to 8,000 and selecting lower calorie options reduces the options dramatically.

So whether Uncle Joe is using a smart phone or Aunt Bessie has the latest tablet or the office party participants argue over which digital device is the best...integrate the technology by sharing the favorite recipes. Then let the discussion and demo session migrate to who has the best app and how are they using it for grocery shopping lists and annotating food allergies.

Your time...as a gift

When one reflects on gifts given and received...what is your most memorable? You never know when the gift of your time can make a difference.


For those using Google Docs...check out the templates. When you find a public template that you like...use it, tailor for your specific situation. To preview a template, click the Preview link, and a full screen preview of the template appears in a new window.


To use a template, click Use this template and a copy of the template is created and added to your Docs list. You can start editing this document directly in Google Docs and sharing it with others. You need to be signed in to your Google Account in order to use a template.


When you use a template, you create your own copy, so it doesn't matter if the template owner changes or deletes the original template; your copy remains unchanged. You can always upload or create your own template and share it with the world too!

Technology Sharing Valentine's Day Certificate

With Valentine’s Day just a few days away…why not share your passion for technology. A simple gift certificate that anyone can use. One hour of 1 to 1 technology sharing. You can tailor the certificate to the recipients' needs or your choice of what you want to share.

In December 2009, I shared a Technology Sharing gift certificate because I work with diverse groups of people who span the technology scale. So here is the Valentine's Day version:

Whether you consider yourself an experienced techie, a novice, or someone who doesn't know a computer mouse from a real mouse the certificate is here for your use, modify, and to continue giving, learning, and sharing. You can give the certificate to those who may need some additional attention outside of a group setting or give the certificate to a group who may want to learn something you want to share. Maybe you know someone that you want to learn from...give them the certificate and request 1 hour of their time.
